Olympus Mju Tough 6000
By Alexandra Savvides on 14 April 2009
For the most part, the Tough 6000 is fairly lacklustre, even if it looks stylish and can take a decent picture when it wants to. We like it better than the Tough 8000 and would recommend it over the more expensive camera, if you can live with its slow speeds and quirks.

- Good: compact and schockproof
- Bad: everything else
I feel extremely dissapointed. I had a canon camera which was not underwater but the image quality was FANTASTIC. I decided to buy a waterproof camera and I went for the Tough 6000 and I am extremely dissapointed, the image quality is not as good, and yes it takes ages to take a picture and it doesnt come close to my previous canon'

- Good: Underwater shots, design feel
- Bad: Haven't found one yet
I like the ways it feels when taking a picture. Like knowing it can go under water and take a buit of battering. I was advised by salesman that the Panasonic was the better camera however it was bulky and i need compact. The price they were able to provide was to hard to resist as the other 8000 and panasonic were well over $120 more. All and all a neat camera.

- Good: Really nice design, Nice shots underwater, Flash doesn't blow out images, scene modes help produce good shots
- Bad: xD card
I have had several underwater cameras and have loved them. I didn't think I would use them under water as much as I do. I know the importance of cleaning the seals and wash it after every beach outing. I have never had any water leaking issues as previously mentioned. A friend bought the Panasonic and returned it as the screws started to corrode. They are not stainless steel. He dropped it from the kitchen bench and it broke around the lens. The 6000 is a great camera and my 2 yr old carries it around and takes photos with it all the time. I wouldn't let her do that with any other camera.
Buy it, you'll have a lot of fun. -

- Good: It goes underwater (for a while)
- Bad: Everything else...
Ok, the lens got irreparably scratched because of some sand between the lens protecting slide and the lens. Nice. Other than that, water got in (yes I did check all the seals before going in the water) and the front labeling (12mp, olympus) is coming of. Got an 8000 model before this, that had something in the camera in front of the lens before I returned it.
Other than that, the movie quality is low and the pictures aren't that good.
Sending it in for repairs is not an option when traveling around Australia so I hope the Panasonic will be released soon. Very disappointed. -

- Good: its Tough
- Bad: takes to long to take the picture.
