Palm Treo 750

By David Flynn on 16 February 2007

Here's a dollop of irony: the best Windows Mobile smartphone has been created by Palm! A bevy of OS enhancements and access to Telstra's Next G mobile broadband network easily make it the best Windows Mobile device we've ever used.

Clearly the worst phone I have ever owned. Total crap. Locks up all the time, puts people on hold, hangs up randomly and best of all some times doesn't even ring

    • Good: Sync wit outlook, Windows interface.
    • Bad: Continuos problems even with replacement handsets. Telstra washing there hands of the issues. So much wrong. A terrible handset and Palm know it but wont do anything regarding upgrading it.

Pretty happy with the phone. Had the first one with WM5 for about 11 and a half months. The only complaint that I had was a delay in the time the call came through and when the phone started ringing.

Recently a problem with the keypad light on the green phone not turning on. Palm sent me another one (pretty much not questions asked) after a couple of emails trying different things to see if it was a hardware or software problem.

The new phone has the WM6 upgrade, seems to have solved the problem that I was having with the delay in ringing.

Pretty happy with the 750, found Palm to be helpful and have no problems replacing their phones if you have a problem under warranty.

    • Good: Easy to use.
Smartphone features and the QWERTY keyboard.
      Palm service.
    • Bad: Bulky, not easy to carry in your pocket.
      No Wi Fi.

Nice form factor and good features so far as intended operation is concerned

    • Good: As above
    • Bad: Windows Mobile device center under Vista x64 combined with Windows Mobile 6.1 creates the most infuriating combination ever to exist on the planet.

They have ruined a wonderful phone! Next time it's back to the Palm OS for me!

I wish I had read the reviews on this peice of junk before purchasing. Will have to seriously consider buying out the remaining 18 months of contract to switch. Maybe if everybody considered doing that and then switching telecommunications company it may make Telstra find a solution.

    • Good: Sinc with outlook.
    • Bad: To many to list

had this 6 months now As a phone this thing is crap. need a phone that will answer more than 10% of the time and not lock itself up when you try to make a call as someone who is on call worse than useless switched back to my motorola v6 as a phone. Couldn't hear often as bluetooth locked itself to headset even when 300kms awawy from it and bluetooth on phone will not switch off or reset. This is going to Cash Converters next week when in town will look at the N95 8gb instead. a waste of money have installed all the upgrades including to WM6 made no difference. Wish i had seen the reviews on this site prior to purchasing. Would not recommend this to my worst enemy

    • Good: right size for a paperweight
    • Bad: phone functions abysmal
      bluetooth useless
      answer button useless
PDA functions not as got as HP650
      Constant Resets
      No off switch

Had the phone less then 30 days before it failed to register a network service. Replaced no questions asked and 6 months on it looks like it going to fail again (spending a lot of time with no service).
Not all WM6 features work including those new voicemail features.

    • Good: It was a great phone while it worked.
    • Bad: The handset is UNRELIABLE.

I have a Treo 700w for the almost 2 years. Just a few days ago, I bought a baseball bat so I can celebrate the day my contract with verizon expires. I am gonna take this phone in my garage and bang the S*** out of it with that baseball bat. I look so forward to that day (just 2 more weeks to go). Can't wait. Anyone thinking about buying this phone ? Please! please ! please, save yourself, dont even think about it. In my 2 years with verizon, I changed three phone sets with them, all behaved the same way.. I wish I could give it "0" rating

    • Good: If you like beating something with baseball bat, this is the phone to go with.
    • Bad: If you dont like beating something with baseball bat, you cant buy it.

    • Good: Would be good if it would do what it is supposed to reliably
