The Japan electronics trade show CEATEC is happening this week and Panasonic has made an announcement in anticipation.
The company will be unveiling its new Lumix Phone brand — camera phones that bear the Lumix digital camera name.
According to Panasonic's press release, the new phone will employ the new Mobile VenusEngine for image processing and comes with digital zoom capability. Its other specs include a 13.2-megapixel CMOS sensor, 3.3-inch VGA LCD, Wi-Fi and microSDHC card support. Its dimensions will be approximately 116x52x17.7mm and weigh 146g.
A teaser site has gone live at lumixphone.jp, though not much more information is currently found there. We do not know if this is for Japan only, though it's not unusual for electronics companies there to co-brand their mobile phones with technologies from their other products. Some examples include the Sony Bravia and Sharp Aquos mobile phones.
