Apple packs an Intel chip into its lineup of petite desktop PCs. Also: The iPod goes hi-fi.

Tuesday, at its Cupertino, Calif., headquarters, Apple showed off its new Intel-powered Mac Mini and iPod Hi-Fi in a variety of staged rooms, including a dorm room, kitchen and den.

mini mac running front row would make a great living room media server if only it could play xvid (divx) and wmv movies.

The third party players like vlc which can play all kinds of media don't work with front fow.

this support is sadly lacking apple.
