Nokia's new music-phone twister, the 3250, will give the Sony Ericsson W800i a run for its money with dedicated music buttons, multiple audio format support, onboard memory expansion slot and 3.5mm audio jack (on the headset). It is expected in Q1 2006.

The highlight of the Nokia event in Sydney is the N92, which is touted as the world's first mobile device with onboard DVB-H receiver. Running the Symbian Series 60 OS, the TV phone sports a 2.8-inch QVGA display supporting 16 million colors and is rated for up to 4 hours of TV viewing time. With an optional 2GB memory card, the N92 can be used to record up to 10 hours of video footage, according to Nokia. An Electronics Services Guide is included in the phone, too.

TV reception is surprisingly sharp and smooth on the N92. Sound reproduction through the built-in stereo speakers also provided a good volume range during demonstrations of the prototype unit.

The N92 looks and feels smaller than the N90, and features a unique swivel that allows the clamshell to be converted to a laptop-like user interface as well as a camcorder-holding position. The number keypad, as shown in the picture, is designed to cater for use in both positions.

Like the N92, the N80 also comes with Wi-Fi connectivity, so users can not only access the Web wirelessly, they are also able to link up to their home networks for image, music and video file sharing.

One of the lower-end handsets in the N-series lineup, the N71 features a 6cm QVGA display that supports the new Nokia Web Browser with Mini Map. This allows users to view Web pages in a similar way they can be seen on a PC.
Based on the Series 60 (3rd edition) platform, the E70 offers a complete range of connectivity options such as 3G, GPRS, Bluetooth and wireless LAN, and features a full messaging QWERTY keyboard when it is flipped open.

The quadband E61 promises an optimised mobile email environment for business professionals with multiple support for e-mail clients, advanced attachment options as well as document-editing utilities. The 3G handset also comes with a 24bit-colour screen and built-in QWERTY thumbboard.

Don't let its simple candy-bar design fool you. The classy-looking E60 smart phone comes with a whole lot of premium features that range from strong e-mail client and document editing support to 3G and wireless LAN connectivity. To top it all, it comes with expandable memory and a 16 million-colour display.

The L'Amour Collection, which is an update of Nokia's 7200 fashion phone series, was showcased at the Sydney event, too. The handset trio are characterised by the use of non-traditional materials and craft techniques, as well as a fabric tab on the right of the phone. Shown here is the lowest-end model, the 7360, which features MP3 ringtones, FM tuner and a VGA camera.

The most interesting-looking model of the lot, the 7380, is the successor to the popular lipstick-shaped 7280. The sleek handset adopts a keyless design and sports several premium features such as a 2-megapixel camera, MP3 player, video streaming as well as a unique mirror surface function (in idle mode).

Swivel-phone users can opt for the well-equipped 7370, which comes with a 1.3-megapixel camera, Bluetooth, FM radio, 2-inch QVGA screen, 3D sound effects and video ringtones.

The Finnish handset maker unveiled several new CDMA phones, including the 2855 clamshell shown here, which offers Bluetooth connectivity, Java support and Push-to-Talk functions. All handsets are expected to be available in selected CDMA markets in Q1 2006.
