Photos: Updated Honda Legend revealed in Chicago
By Derek Fung and Kevin Massy on 11 February 2008
Honda's flagship Legend sedan has gone under the scalpel with results shown for the first time at the 2008 Chicago Auto Show.
The Legend is Honda's flagship for cabin and drivetrain technology, and was the first car in the company's range to have Super-Handling All Wheel Drive system.
New lines
The bulk of the Legend's understated styling remains. However the refreshed model's new grille, headlights, bumper and bonnet means that the Legend moves from refined and understated to ungainly and understated -- at least to our eyes. There's also a fresh set of alloy wheels. The inset picture is the current Legend.
Under the creased sheet metal of the newly minted bonnet, the Legend gets a more powerful motor in the shape of a 3.7-litre V6 generating 223kW -- the current model has a 217kW 3.5-litre V6. Considering most of the competition runs with six or seven speed autos, we're a little surprised that the engine is still mated to an updated version of the current model's five-speed automatic transmission.
