Ordering pizzas online can be such a mundane task. Pick a base, pick the toppings, pay for it with a credit card. Pizza Hut's new iPhone app promises to take this simple process screaming into the 21st century, using augmented reality to help you locate your nearest pizza purveyor of the Hut variety.
Similar to iPhone app Layar, the augmented reality feature in the Pizza Hut app uses the iPhone's camera and GPS receiver to show the locations of the nearest stores when you choose to pick up your pizza rather than having it delivered. Sure it's way easier to read this info off a list of nearby stores (which the app also has), but you can't show off a crappy list to your mates at the BBQ on the weekend, right?
There's also a mini-game tacked onto the app called Hut Racer, and the less said about this game the better. Though we should warn you, once you begin this insanely boring game there is no way to quit out of it without pressing the iPhone home key and exiting the app altogether. It feels less like a game and more like a cruel joke Pizza Hut is playing on its customers.
The Pizza Hut app is freshly baked and ready to download for free for anyone who cares to grab it.
