Poll: Does product placement work?

After watching the latest Bond film, we're beginning to wonder whether Bond's so angry just because of all the products he's meant to spruik. We wonder whether he's reading this story right now on his Intel-inside PC...

I know it doesn't have any effect on me. Mostly because I can't afford to buy most of what gets placed on TV, but also because I prefer to do research on different brands and models before I go out and buy.
But I know many people who aren't quite as savvy (or caring) when it comes to knowing what is, blatant or not, product placement.
