Description:

Users' rating:

4.9/10

Upside
While it's not exactly suited to photo printing, the X1270 looks to be superb for most basic printing tasks. It's able to print at resolutions of up to 4800x1200 dpi, and won't take an age to do so thanks to its 17 black and nine colour pages per minute printing speeds.

Yet being an "all-in-one" model, the X1270 also boasts colour scanning (flatbed) and copying features. It'll scan at a resolution of up to 600x1200 ppi, and copying is super speedy at 13 black and five colour copies per minute.

It's got a paper capacity of 100 sheets, while Lexmark's "Accu-feed" paper handling system "virtually eliminates paper jams", according to the company.

Compared to competing printer manufacturers, the X1270's LexExpress warranty with second business day exchange is very impressive.

Downside
As mentioned above, being an entry-level model the X1270 isn't suited to photo printing. Unlike the X2470 and X3470, it lacks an LCD screen, and given that it's not a photo printer, also lacks a memory card reader and PictBridge slot for printing photos directly from a camera.

Another feature that exists on the X2470 and X3470 but is nowhere to be found on the X1270 is a single cartridge system, so you'll have to shell out for separate black and colour cartridges when it comes time for replacement. This may prove inconvenient for some users.

Like most Lexmark printers, the X1270 doesn't support the Mac OS operating system.

Outlook
The X1270 is an entry-level, all-in-one home printer that offers excellent value for those with basic needs.

I hate it. The cartridges do not last long. Itried to refill and theyw oul dnot print. I bought new ones and they quite within two week. I never had problems with my old cannon printer.

Pros: Cheap

Cons: Have to buy a new one in a few months and cartridges dry out fast or plug, cheap!

bought for the kids to print projects. loaded first go and seeems to work fine.It is very good for the price, but don't expect exceptional colour quality.

Pros: stylish, practical, cheap. Cartridges are smalll and a liitle pricy, but if you ain't doing big volumes, its' fine...

Cons: not suited for high volume/quality

I bought mine today. Can't get it to work! I keep getting a message on screen saying the computer cannot communicate with the printer. I went to the Lexmark website and downloaded another driver but it still won't work. back to the shop it goes! What a waste of time.

Pros: Looks good.

Cons: It doesn't work!

Was cheap, but as I suspected, I was done like a dinner!

Pros: Cheap, good word printing until your cartrige runs out.

Cons: Can't refill (very small) cartidge, it has been fixed by the manufacturer! Lookout, big cartridge costs for short print time ahead!

printer was horrible to get working in linux, and scanner still does not work, works fine in windows though. ink only lasts about 2 print jobs, and paper almost always goes crooked. also jams frequently.

Pros: cheap

Cons: requires windows, does not support linux, expensive ink, poor quality images printing.
