Upside
If you're after a photo printer, the X2470 at AU$99 is probably the cheapest one you'll find.
Its regular colour and black printing functions are, on paper, similar to that of its younger brother, the AU$89 X1270. The unit sports a maximum print resolution of 4800x1200 dpi, and can print colour or text documents at a speed of up to 17 pages per minute.
Yet for AU$10 more than the price of the X1270, you also get photo printing capabilities. These include a PictBridge port for printing directly from a camera, and Lexmark photo editing software that features one-touch red-eye removal and colour fixing. Lexmark promises that the X2470 can produce a borderless 4x6-inch print in 38 seconds.
Interestingly, the printer uses a single ink cartridge that produces both colour and black inks. This makes maintenance far simpler, as you'll only need to change one cartridge as opposed to multiple cartridges when the ink runs dry.
The "Web toolbar" function is perhaps the X2470's most interesting software feature. It enables users to print Web pages in just a few clicks, and you're able to eliminate advertisements and other unwanted elements before printing. A handy feature to say the least.
Being an "all-in-one" model, the X2470 also boasts colour scanning (flatbed) and copying features. It'll scan at a resolution of up to 600x1200 ppi, and copying is super speedy at 13 black and five colour copies per minutes.
It's got a paper capacity of 100 sheets, while Lexmark's "Accu-feed" paper handling system "virtually eliminates paper jams", according to the company.
Compared to competing printer manufacturers, the X2470's LexExpress warranty with second business day exchange is very impressive.
Downside
While the X2470 offers up PictBridge support, if you're after a memory card reader or LCD display, you'll have to shell out an extra AU$20 and upgrade to the X3470 model.
Like most Lexmark printers, the X2470 doesn't support the Mac OS operating system.
Outlook
The X2470 is a great low-end photo printer that offers a number of high-end features.

No Mac support? This is not good. They don't offer drivers for the x2470.
Pros: I have no idea, can't use it with My new mac.
Cons: can't use it with My new mac.

color copies from photos or newspapers are faded and dull in appearance, even though I have it set at the best printing settings (photo setting).
Pros: quick. Text copies are great on photo setting.
Cons: Copies that look faded and dulled out.

Very good for the money!
Pros: I get true blacks on my 2470 and very nice
8/10 color prints.
Easiest printer I've ever installed.
Cons: A little slow, but for 39.99 who cares.

Looks good & takes up less room than the old printer and scanner. Printed pages pop out nice and quick
Pros: Price & features for casual user. Ink cartredges at a more realisticc price... jury is still out on this one!
Cons: Scanner does not work straight out of box [Windows XP] and a patch [that i am still waiting for] is required to supposedly make it work
