Description:

The Canon Pixma MP610 is a minor upgrade of the MP600, offering nothing less and not much more but if you don't already have a multifunction printer it may be worth a look.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Now that's what we think the Canon Pixma MP610 stands for. It carries over the feature set we liked about the MP600. No less and not much more.

What's It About?
The MP610 relies on the same five-colour ink cartridge system to drive its printing output (two blacks, and one each of cyan, yellow and magenta).

The MP610 is definitely built for the home office. It has duplexing for increased page handling and two media trays, if you are looking to switch between two paper types at the same time.

However, home offices might be miffed if heavy printing is part of their needs as the MP610 does not come with a document feeder.

What's different?
While they are mostly alike, there are minute differences. The MP610 has a claimed 31ppm monochrome speed over the MP600's 30ppm. The MP610 also has more nozzles which probably accounts for the slight increase in speed.

The MP610 also has a slightly higher scanning resolution at 4,800 x 9,600ppi compared to the MP600's 2,400 x 4,800ppi.

To justify the new model name, the MP610 also stepped up in terms of pretty features. There's a picture auto fix and a quick start option. Not a major incentive to upgrade if you already have the MP600, but for everyone else, it's worth a second look.

I do not think your manual is easy to follow. The info is designed by people who are setting up printers all the time, not for one -offs like me. e.g. how many tapes are there to be removed BEFORE you start the machine...

Pros: Haven't connected it yet. Failed reading Computer Manual.
Abysmal rating applies to manual.

great printer. Had an HP AIO before. HP nothing capred to this when it comes to photo quality. HP always leaves a green shade on all the photos. I am really happy with this printer.

Pros: Separate ink cartridges saves money. Duplex printing for Home and office. no extra power box hanging outside like HP does.

Cons: No way! for the result I am getting!

Scanning, copying, printing is everything I wanted in an AIO and without loss of quality in the photo department. Perfect for general home use and great value for money. I recommend it.

Pros: Excellent quality photo printing on glossy paper.
Easy setup.
Optional Blue Tooth adaptor.
Easy CD/DVD printing once you work out where to put the plastic insert.

Cons: No USB cable
Manual is a bit brief on some things. No reference in it to CD/DVD printing.

This one had everything I was looking for: colour LCD, individual ink tanks, CD printing, and scanning capabilities.

Pros: Handles the multiple functions brilliantly.

Cons: Documentation was short on tech specifics.

Excellent Printer. Remarkable quality and is very fast.

Pros: Wireless would be nice. It claims to have XD card compatibility - but it doesn't ! you need to us a CF card "jacket", which they do not provide

Outstanding printer, and I got $80 in instant and mail in rebates, makes it even sweeter..

Pros: Print speed is great, photos look fantastic! Five ink wells save you a lot on replacement cartridges. Look and feel is quality.

Cons: No fax, if you need that.

      HP Photosmart C8180

The C8180 multifunctional printer is an excellent choice for photo enthusiasts. It prints high-quality text and photos at a heavy price: the printer is slow. If you always choose quality over speed, the C8180 will be a worthwhile addition to your digital toolshed.

      Kodak ESP 3

The Kodak ESP 3 comes with great software for editing photos and applying touch-ups to portraits, but printer software is only as good as the physical results, and the print quality isn't nearly up to current industry standards. Your money would be much better spent on alternative multifunction printers.
