By Jeffrey Fuchs, CNET.com on 14/03/2005

More HP reviews , RRP: AU$199.00

The good:

  • Easy-to-use walk-up or computer-controlled printing, scanning, and copying
  • Slick look
  • Low price, digital memory cards and PictBridge port

The bad:

  • Slow
  • No photo preview LCD, automatic document feeder, or two-sided printing
  • Fair scans
  • Requires ink swapping

The bottomline:

The HP 1610 all-in-one is well suited for an individual or a family that will use colour scanning and copying only occasionally.

Paper feeder not not work after 3 weeks.

As a lot of people have said: the paper feeder does not work! If you want a printer you have to feed by hand...get this one. Be ready to push in each paper in with perfect timing...using just the right about of force.

will not copy

I have had trouble with this printer for a year. It is my daughter's printer and would never completly download.the printer has been changed out three times. I finally downloaded it into my pc and it will not do a copy. We have spent hours on the phone with the help desk and now the warrenty is out. This printer has been a nighmare and very stressfull trying to fix it all the time.

Can't handle paper

The printer doesn't produce a bad print, but getting a piece of paper under the printheads is commical. The thing simply DOES NOT WORK. As other reviews, either "no paper" or "jam" messages every single time from out of the box. Aggravating enough for a bashing.

Hopeless device

This device is a nightmare. It will either say it's out of paper when there actually is paper (HP paper!!) and if you push it a little bit too far in, it will take 6 sheets and give you a paper jam. If it prints, it will only print one or two sheets, and then fail again. Installed the thing on another computer than I originally wanted, because the 700 MB install file kept failing to get to the end. So installing is a nightmare too. Support could only read out the information already online, which is not very helpfull either.

One advice: Forget about this printer, it's not gonna make you happy.
I would never ever consider buying a HP printer again.

Good printer for home but NOT for office use

It was a very good printer but for home use only. It printed over 10K flyers for me and did well but the carraige finally died but for what I paid for it it was worth it for the 5 months I had it.

Not a bad printer for what I paid

Bought the printer about a month ago ($89 from BigLots). I've had 2 paper jambs but they were easy to clear. Once the ink ran out I bought the refill kit (InkTec Brand) for both color and black. These cartridges are easy to refill and for $40 I was able to get 5 black refills and 12 color refills. So far the color is not bad with the replacement ink and the cartridges work fine. I haven't tried the photo quality cartridge yet.
