The printer has worked well for me and I haven't ecountered any problems with paper jams, photocopier or anything, but I'm having problems with scanning. I just can't figure out how to work it. What are scanner options?
This thing has only worked 25% of the time and now apperntly doesnt work at all. It has a horrible case of the malfunftionag paper tray; either picks up thirty sheets or thinks its empty. Complete garbage. Gave it the "Office Space" treatment which satiated my anger, but never healed me completely.
Print quality is excellent, but too many errors. Definitely do not purchase.
Cannot scan directly from printer controls, have to go thru deskstop to scan. Also have received incompatible color cartridge errors twice in past 4 mos which renders the machine useless. HP Firmware patches do not correct problems, On-line tech supposrt people are unknowledgeable and generally useless. I will never purchase a HP all-in-one again
I had an HP printer for a long time many years ago, and recently bought this one to go with my new laptop. I paid full price for a brand new printer, only to have it break down less than 1 month of owning it (and maybe used it 3 times). I should have pushed for my money back, but they said they would "fix it" for me. I got a refurbished one, that has broken down again (cartridge door supposidly open). HP Support said, it was the hardware once again. So now I am out of a printer again. I definitely do not recommend getting this printer, or HP products - you pay for a new printer only to get refurbished pieces of junk.
2) really heay software. With complete feature : more than 700 Mb
I just wanted to use the front button to scan docuement. This feature has never worked !
As the other reviewers have pointed out, setup was very simple right out of the box (does not come with a USB cable). In tests before I purchased it I found the print speed to be quite reasonable, printed text very good, and copying showed to be the most accurate of the Canon and Epson models of similiar price that I also looked at. It is also quieter! For the price ($130 at Office Max), I am very pleased.
This is extremely easy to use. I wanted something I didn't have to attach to my computer since my husband is always killing ours some how. I like to fact I can keep it near all my scrapbooking equipment in the dining room and it doesn't take up too much space. Great photo quality.
I have an older iMac running OS 10.3.8 and I was very leery that an HP product wouldnt work right out of the box with a Mac. Surprise, surprise! it did! I'm so happy. How convenient to have an all-in-one and I only paid 130.00 USD in 03/2005

Hardware problems very quickly
My HP PSC1610 is only 5 months old, and I've hardly used it.
Now the paper feeder doesn't work, it either says "out of paper", or it will suck all 20 sheets in at once and jam!
And it tells me that my genuine brand new HP colour cartridge is not suitable for use in the printer.
Firmware updates, hardware reset, cleaning of cartridge terminals, cleaning of rollers has done nothing.
Time to ring back for warranty.
Just so annoying when you are busy.
