The bottomline:
The Canon Pixma MX700 is a great choice for small offices with a wide variety of print tasks. This inkjet multifunction beats out the competition with a winning combination of features and performance.

Happy with product in most respects. As our phone line is shared between phone, broadband and now fax, I decided - after comments from other users and testing - to use the Telstra Duet service ($6/month) to automate fax reception by ring pattern detection (network switch setting). However, early tests show that the service is not working, sender gets an error message. Can anybody help? No definitive answer yet found in Canon manual or online, might need to call them! Don't wish to buy a Duet compatibele fax machine!
Pros: Very good print quality, quiet, good screen, smooth, copying and scanning good, quick to get ready to work
Cons: Getting fax to work; some anomalies in instructions, a little bulky, wireless capability would be handy
Re: My earlier comment, it appears that the problem was the new USB cable. This reinforces the comments of others regarding non-supply of a cable with the unit. Such supply would avoid this problem.
Pros: Works well once able to set up. Haven't had a chance to trial Fax as yet.
Cons: Quality printer USB cable not supplied. Unclear that both discs need to be used for PC set up (second disc not just for Mac.)
Since setting up and registering O.K. whenever I turn on my computer won't recognise the printer. USB ports working O.K. with other devices, so can only conclude that it is the printer.
Am extremely disappointed. Bought on the strength of this and other similar reviews.
Cons: 'Plug and pray' has left me without a prayer!

I have the same problem with the fax cutting in on a shared line. I leave my machine off most of the time so it's not an issue. Otherwise, really happy with it.
Pros: Good photo print quality, good copy quality, ease of use.
Further to my previous comments. There has been no response by canon regarding my fax problem despite the help system claiming response time of two days.
The fax always cuts in on incoming calls if the printer shares a line with a telephone. This is despite it being in TEL priority and manual mode.

The manual says 28# is max paper weight. I want to print card stock and other stock to 60#. Is this OK? Will it damage the printer?
