Samsung N120

Samsung's netbook is an excellent entry into the Australian market, and an incredibly tempting buy for anyone looking in this space.

- Good: Battery life, keyboard layout
- Bad: screen hinge, windows key, hotkeys
Bought this just before heading on a plane to the UK. Managed to watch a whole season of a TV show before I had to plug it in. In short, amazing battery life.
However the windows key placement is annoying, and the function key is based on window software, so forget adjusting the screen brightness if you fancy installing ubuntu on it.
Installing windows 7 on this little beast will reduce the battery life a bit. However this is counteracted by a smoother running machine. Running on full brightness with a whole bunch of stuff running, you still are looking at around 5 hours, with significantly faster boot up times than with XP, especially from hibernation.
One thing that is slightly annoying is the screen hinge could be a little tighter, as it seems a little loose and floppy, unlike the similar Asus netbooks.
Managed to get it for under $600 with duty free, well worth the buy! -

- Good: Look, price, keyboard, weight
- Bad: bulkiness of charging cord (but maybe they are all like this?) Nothing else yet.
Purchased one today, very happy. Works really well.
