Samsung Omnia
By Joseph Hanlon on 30 October 2008
In terms of features, the Omnia stands out as one of the best smartphones to date. It's a shame this doesn't translate into a phone we'd enjoy using from day to day.

3G offered me $0 on this phone so dumb enough to get it without doing proper research. four mths later it is still sitting on my desk n the attempts of learning it just forgotten. It doesnt come with instruction booklet.
Did tried to put some songs in but it synced itself automatically!
Dont get it even if it on $0!- Good: nothing
- Bad: everything

A good phone with lots of fun features. This phone is mods and custom galore. Millions of add ons. The phone lags with the old software but there are new updates for the phone and new widgets so when you upgrade, it becomes awesome. Wifi is really good but for some reason the streaming quality of videos on omnia aren't that good.
Overall, Its a great phone. You're better off with an iphone if you want to pay a bit extra and for its usability. On the other hand, the windows OS is perfect for buisness and customisation use. Even as some too replace your old camera or video camera, this is your phone.- Good: Features, Looks Good, Stable, Samsung Widgets
- Bad: Lags a bit

your 12th floor or a cliff..??? if you throw it off the 12th floor then chances are, it could hit someone on the head. If you throw it off a cliff, you'll never see it again. I'd go the cliff.
I'm having the same problem with my keypad too but I don't live in a unit or near a cliff. J9, you think you got problems....- Good: solitare
- Bad: everything else

I've had this phone since December 2008. Whilst it started off good I'm now ready to throw it off the 12th floor of my apartment building. The touch screen doesn't work properly. I have to touch in obscure places on the screen to open items i.e. when I touch on an icon it will not open. I have to touch above or below that icon. I have aligned the screen time and time again and no improvement is made.
A friend of mine also got the phone and now when she presses R on the keypad she gets an A or and F, but never the R. Go figure. She's had hers for about 6 months.
As soon as the Nokia E72 comes out I will be buying it and drop kicking this phone off a cliff.
DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE!- Good: Looks Good
- Bad: Touch Screen

I've had the Omnia i900 for a few days now, and have successfully installed a GPS program, sync'ed with the laptop for contacts, emails etc, and dumped a heap of photos and movies into the 8gb memory. Being my first touch screen phone it's taken some getting used to, but in all honesty I'm glad I went with this phone over an iPhone. Can't beat it for the price and features. This phone is certainly not for the apple generation.
- Good: GPS onboard, great media player, flashlight!, wireless connectivity,
- Bad: Battery life is a bit lacking

I'm 6 months into owning this phone and in that time I have gone from having an official Samsung/Optus firmware on board to taking a huge leap and downloading/installing a cooked firmware. I am SOOOOOOO glad I did. I have gotten rid of a lot of unnecessary WinMo garbage and now have a phone that runs very quickly on a hybrid WinMo 6.5 OS(yes thats right - 6.5!!). I have considerably greater system memory onboard and much less bugginess that seemed endemic to the branded ROM's put out. It's actually almost criminal that providers/manufacturers can offer up such shoddy software. Anyway my Omnia is a fabulous machine now and I am happy to have taken the leap and stepped outside the official channels to better this product.
- Good: Limitless Possibilities for Customizing UI, Great Multimedia Functions, Love the Display
- Bad: Big Question mark Over WiFi, Steep Learning Curve, Battery Life Is Not Good (but then what smartphone's is?)

I was looking forward to getting this phone but am disappointed, I just can't get it to do what I want, I love the black color and the way it feels in my hand but the stylus waves around when I try to make a call and then I can't make a call, I can't even find the screen, it keeps me awake at night and when I hold it to my ear it wobbles and for some reason I always end up with a sticky ear, then when I put the phone down, it wanders off and I can't find it, it smells funny too and it leaves stains on the carpet......hang on a minute....where the F#*K did this F#@*&NG chiwawa come from? And where the F#%k is my phone?
- Good: Feels nice in the hand, very touch responsive
- Bad: A bit doggish
