Samsung SGH-D900i
By Rosanne Hodgekiss on 24 April 2008
Samsung's SGH-D900i is a phone with an identity crisis -- ultimately a 2G phone with 3G multimedia aspirations. It does a couple of core things pretty well, but not well enough to make an exciting name for itself in a crowded 2G market.

Phone is great but LCD screen is reknowned for cracking with little pressure. Can not even put it in your pocket. Not covered by warranty "physical damage". This phone is not fit for purpose - stay clear of it
- Good: Great phone until the LCD breaks
- Bad: fragile

-Battery life
-pretty good graphics
-well worth the price paid for it ($150) - Bad: -hard to clean smudges off screen
-a little slow to view images if you have a image size larger then 100kb

I've had this phone for ~18months and really like it. So much so that I can find an upgrade that doesn't feel like I'm downgrading. I may end up buying another one.
- Good: Once I turned the keypad backlight off during the day, battery lasts 3 or 4 days.
User interface is easy and intuitive to use
Camera flash makes a good torch (press the hash key 3 times in camera mode)
Slide settings easily changed.
FM radio
Stopwatch - I know this sounds silly but none of the new Nokia's have one and I use it while programming and in my labs at uni..
Light, durable. No scratches on the screen altho the silver paint is slowly coming off - only where it's hit the concrete in one of its many falls..
No problems changing the volume during a call - Bad: After 18months the microphone has died, so when I'm on a call the person at the other end has difficulty hearing me
Only have a choice of 4 message tones - only one of which is usable
- Good: Once I turned the keypad backlight off during the day, battery lasts 3 or 4 days.

Overall, its a decent phone but Samsung hasnt stepped up to another level after producing a very good phone D600 at that time.
- Good: Slim design, clear screen, light, cheap,
- Bad: Cant read various types of files (word, excel)
Camera too slow to take a photo
Screen unreliable (switches off at times)
Poor battery life
