The WEP200 is a fantastic Bluetooth headset that offers great sound and reasonable battery life.

7.0 8.4
  • Good: Tiny, good sound
  • Bad: Difficult to pair with non-Samsung phones
  • Specs: Headset • See more specifications
  • RRP: AU$140.00

Samsung's WEP200 Bluetooth earpiece is sleek and business-like. The tiny 9g device measures around 40mm and ships with a small black charging case. The charger is fitted with small LEDs to indicate the status of the charge and the battery should last for 4 hours of normal use.

The headset operation is a little tricky at first: you have to hold the button down for four seconds to turn it on, and for 8 seconds to pair it with a phone. It takes a little bit of getting used to, but pairing isn't something you'll have to do regularly.

In use, the small device works a treat. Though it doesn't offer any form of noise-cancelling or automatic volume control, the unit is as loud as the Plantronics Discovery 640 and is fine for use in hectic environments. There are no signs of echo, and conversations come through clear and loud. The ear hook is also comfortable for long stints.

The WEP200 is a fantastic Bluetooth headset blessed with diminutive dimensions and enough features to keep the demanding user satisfied. Pairing can be a little tricky, but there's little not to recommend about the WEP200. It's small, offers great sound, an easy recharge facility, and decent battery life.

fantastic. just watch out for the chinese clones on ebay... they look the same, but the sound quality is poor, and so is the range. Spend a bit more on an original samsung, and you wont regret it.

    • Good: weight, size, simplicity, very usable
    • Bad: earpiece volume is not quite load enough

Got one to replace my Jawbone (which only works well on GSM networks according to the manufacturer - but that's another review) and I love everything about it except that I can't get it to stay in my ear. Too much wax? Maybe not enough? I've even read the manual (you know what I mean - we don't read manuals) and I STILL can't figure out how everyone thinks it's comfortable. If I don't wedge it in, it slips out. (reminds me of a girfriend I once had...)

    • Good: Size, battery life, charging system
    • Bad: The earpiece. Sound quality seems dependant on the phone.

wonderful bt, been using it for years now.. no problems whatsoever and the quality is the best

    • Good: best sound quality and im using an old Samsung D500 bought in 2005. This bugger came out in 2006.
    • Bad: they should have included a car charger for it... since i usually use it in the car only...

i like the headset but its really shocking - its only got 20cm of range on my phone - keep in mind i have a old phone though - but i tired it on a nokia 6288 and it doesnt even work properly
i would think that it would work alot better on a samsung phone

    • Good: nice size, good looking
    • Bad: its got like 20cm range!!!!
not really comparable with other phones

I've used several headset and this is definately by far the best one I've owned. The sound is loud and clear. Unlike other brands I have tried, I'm constantly trying to turn up the volume even though it won't get any higher. The size is amazing and the charger case is ideal for frequent flyers. I'm told that the sound on the receiver's end is slightly muffled but still clear enough to understand me. All in all, a wonderful headset.

    • Good: Small, lightweight, charger case, loud, clear, easy to use.
    • Bad: Slightly muffled on receiver's end but still good.

It is clear enough on my end of the line but not as clear from the call receiver.

    • Good: Small, light weight and comfortable.
    • Bad: Bad audio from receiver's end of the line.

Small & Comfortable, but HORRIBLE sound!!

The sound quality & range on this headset leave much to be desired. And keep in mind that I have a SAMSUNG phone, which should be the perfect match for this headset since they're the same brand. The sound is so horrible that it sounds like one of those "telephones" you used to make when you were a kid, where you would take 2 soup cans and attach a piece of string in between them and then stretch it out really far and talk into one can and you can hear it in the other can. That's the best way I can describe it, because that is exactly how it sounds! As for the range of the headset, it's rated at 30 feet but I would give it maybe 5 feet at best. If I set my phone on my desk and stand up to walk around the front of the desk, the signal starts breaking up. And if my phone is in my left pocket and the headset is in my right ear, I can't even use it because there is too much static. It only works if I have my phone in my pocket on the same side as the headset and then it's fine, but that is absurd. I have never experienced such poor signal quality or sound quality on any headset, and I've tried at least 20 different ones over the past few years. I guess I am still in search of the "perfect" headset with excellent sound quality, range, and small size. The best I have found so far is the Plantronics Voyager 510, but that is a very large headset and it isn't very discreet. But if you don't care about size and you want pristine sound quality and exceptional range, then the Plantronics Voyager 510 is the way to go (make sure to get the new updated version, it has the better noise-cancellation on it).

The only thing that could change my opinion on this is if maybe I just got a bad unit and it's defective. I'll try to swap it out at the store, and if anything changes then I'll post a follow-up.

    • Good: Small, Comfortable, easy to pair. That's about it, it's a very simple unit.
    • Bad: I have tried a LOT of different bluetooth headsets, and this is by far the worst sound quality I have ever had in any of them.

My first Bluetooth, exceeded my expectations.

Easily paired to Nokia 6230 and Motorola Razor, completed in seconds, don't forget to get a "solid" light for initial locating and I.D. purposes.

    • Good: Too easy, once you understand it. Very simple to locate and pair.
    • Bad: None
