Samsung YH-J70
By Edvarcl Heng, CNET Asia on 01 December 2005
While Apple went out for minimal features in order to keep its iPods looking zen (no offence, Creative), Samsung, like most Korean companies, prefers to play it by the numbers (of features).

excellent - 2009 update - it has the rare MP3 Line in recording. I had on many years ago in the UK and eventually it died. Howver but a cheap one overseas casue it's great to plug into the back of a mixer and record live DJ sets and mixes. Ra

- Good: Sturdy, stylish, does everything
- Bad: Converting videos is inconvenient.
Had it for 3 years now. Still going.

I have had mine now for 3 years. Its motorbike stereo, car stereo, house stereo, walkman and extra hard drive and i can't fault it.
I have had so many friends and neices with i-pods that come and go(failures) and this thing is like the ever ready bunny that just keeps going on -

- Good: Nice colors, includes tetris in the games folder, and the radio was pretty good.
- Bad: Crashes ALL THE TIME for no reason, and it takes several minutes to boot it back up, freezes constantly, runs very slow (and I barely used a 5th of the 30GB availability), and the navigation buttons freeze a lot. All around a pain in the a**.
I got this mp3 player as a gift a couple years ago, and I honestly wished they weren't so nice. It's a pain in the a** using the software to rip CDs and add them onto the player, as you have to edit the information considerably to have the songs organized logically. Yeah, I could listen to music, and for that it was good...but I'm so happy it died and I have an excuse to go mp3 player hunting again.

great player
one function i love besisdes the plethora of goodies is the atob function, i love to loop fav sections of a mp3 that cause the hairs to raise on my back
having sied that i returned myne back to argos after only 2 weeks as the lock slider came off from the side which amazed me.
i bought a creative zen m series but miss the a to b function and
you cant go wrong with this samsung product.
20gb storage where alot of greedy manufactures offer a fraction of this without fm radio never mind fm radio recording.
i do think samsung could have provided a carry pouch for the price.
anyway buy buy but -

Sexy unit does everything!
I researched all MP3 players on the market (Dec 05) this player won hands down. It's sleek and sexy, very easy to use, long battery life. Can't praise it enough. Well done Samsung.

VERY good player
I switched my 4G iPod for one of these (the 30GB, which unfortunately was only sold in white where I bought it) - and I'm really glad I did.
Sound quality isn't just slightly better, there's a massive rift of a difference, and the battery life is almost infallible (when not using the SRS WOW function at least - but even then it's iPod beating).
16:9 videos are stretched to 4:3, but 7 hours of playback treads all over the iPod's two - and is perfectly watchable despite the screen size, as the detail is kept (and an hour and a half of video becomes 170MB, which makes for plenty of video storage). There's just about every feature under the sun otherwise.
Unfortunately there's a few bugs in the firmware (lack of a proper shuffle function for one thing) and the supplied software isn't a patch on iTunes / Windows Media Player, but looking past those, this is an awesome piece of kit, which has drawn many an intrigued gaze from iPod owners. Highly recommended.
