Shaky start for NZ Apple iPhone 4

Apple's iPhone 4 finally went on sale in New Zealand today, following hiccups in the launch.

The devices were meant to be available from this morning at Vodafone, Magnum Mac and JB Hi-Fi stores.

Staff at JB Hi-Fi in Queen Street, Auckland, told ZDNet Australia that they did not have any iPhone 4s in stock and had "no idea" when they would be getting any.

Magnum Mac said there had been some delays in sales, but referred calls to Vodafone, which was unavailable for comment at the time. Vodafone's flagship Queen Street store was not taking calls either.

Vodafone spokesperson Paul Brislen sent a comment at 12:42pm to say that the carrier was now selling the phones. Apple's online sales will start this evening.

No official reason has been given for the delay, but media reports cite rumours of a stoush between Vodafone and Apple or "shipping problems".

Maybe they're waiting for the white one because it looks more like a sheep...

So the Shaky Isles didn't get their iPhones in time, seems to me that makes them lucky.
