Australian users can now purchase Adobe Creative Suite 3 Design Premium software as a subscription service, making the software more accessible to a wider audience.
Whether you're a design enthusiast or a professional, not everyone can afford to shell out thousands of dollars for the latest software suite. And while there are a number of free alternatives available, if you can't — or just don't want to — compromise, you can now licence Adobe's CS3 Design Premium for a monthly or annual fee.
As of May 1, Australia is the first and currently the only country being offered flexible payment options, according to Adobe, due to a mature market and our reputation as early adopters.
"Available only in Australia, the Creative Suite 3 Design Premium Subscription Edition allows communications professionals and designers to have access to the latest version of the industry’s leading design suite in a new flexible payment method," said Peter McAlpine, Australia and New Zealand country manager at Adobe. "We are excited to offer the subscription Edition to our customers in Australia first and look forward to their feedback before we consider extending it to other parts of the world."
Adobe Creative Suite 3 Design Premium Subscription Edition is currently available exclusively to customers in Australia, for AU$129 per month for a 12-month contract, or AU$199 month-to-month. Besides those who don't want to be hit with the full cost all at once, short-term users who may only require the service for a few months will save a significant amount whether opting for an annual subscription or ad hoc usage.

This is a massive rip off! AU$129 per month for a 12-month contract, or AU$199 month-to-month? No wonder piracy is so wide spread when companies like Abode and Microsoft rip customers off so blatantly. That's obscene. Even more obscene than the full price as you don't get anything after you've used it for a month. And isn't there a trial version available for 30 days?! Why would you fork out AU$199 for a trail version of a piece of software? I hope open source keeps growing and they all go out of business. Evil money grubbing bastards! For those of you who want a good alternative, try The Gimp. It's free. No subscription required.
