I had been holding out for a TV for the past 3 yrs and purchased the Z5500 a month ago. The picture is beautiful - so much better than any plasma I have seen including the Panasonic Viera G series which is supposed to be the best Plasma on the market at the moment. Images really come to life and the picture is so detailed. Having said this, it seems that I have a fault with mine and am having it replaced next week. The colours on one of the inputs only (Video 1) are all over the place - I thought it was just a matter of adjusting settings but apparently not eg Red looks pink, green is flouro green etc. Sony and Myer agreed to replace it without even sending someone to look at it so they are obviously aware of the issue.

Regarding sport (in particular AFL) on Digital HD- I must admit I thought the picture would be better. When I say this, I'm talking about when the camera moves eg to follow the ball. I find that the picture goes out of focus when following the ball and then refocusses. I only notice this on camera movements ie not when players are running or with the camera still. and yes, the 200Hz Motionflow was turned on "High". I began to question whether I should have bought a Plasma instead. It was buggin me so much that that afternoon I went to the local retail store (while the AFL was on) and stood there for an hour watching all the screens. I was convinced that there was no difference when the camera was moving even on the Panasonic G series. It was clear to me that by far the Z5500 delivers the best picture out of any TV that was on display (both Plasma and LCD) - which justifies why it is more expensive.

The guy in the shop told me that most people aren't smart enough to shop for a TV when AFL is on as it certainly is the yardstick for viewing movement capability of TVs. In his opinion, no TV (LCD or Plasma) will eliminate this "blurriness" with camera movements. Upon standing in front of the Panasonic G eries for 30mins I convinced myself that the Z5500 is best on the market.

I have been holding out for this LCD rather than buying the W series currently on sale. My head is spinning when I recently saw that Panasonic has it's new 46 inch G series on sale for close to $2500 with a free Wii. Panasonic seems to have some great reviews with its plasmas, but Sony also has its good name. Any suggestions??? Love watching AFL, Cricket and the odd movie.
