Sony Ericsson Android interface

By Nicole Lee on 10 July 2009

News broke recently that Sony Ericsson is planning on releasing an Android-powered phone, code-named Rachael, before the end of the year.

The Xperia-branded phone is reportedly built on the Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD8250 platform, with a processor speed of up to 1GHz, a large 102mm (4-inch) touchscreen display, possibly an 8-megapixel camera with autofocus and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Now there's a leaked video of Rachael's — sorry, the Rachael's — Android interface. It doesn't quite look like the Android OS we're familiar with — in fact, it looks better. We really like how the contacts are displayed as cards, the threaded messaging, and the Twitter and Facebook integration. We're big fans of made-up contact lists too, in this case including the lovely Aussie actor David Wenham. Thrilling.

We're certainly excited to see this come to fruition, though we have no idea when it might appear down under. Here's hoping.

Its very flash. But why all the wasted space? Those contact cards look cool but once you have more than 100 contacts on the phone and you quickly want to get to the one you want to call, scrolling through 6 contacts at a time would become painful.
