You're going to have to put on sunglasses for this one. If you were getting the feeling, like we have, that Sony Ericsson was stuck in a design rut and just pumping out the same phone over and over, then prepare to be dazzled — bedazzled even. For lovers of jewels or jewel-shaped electronics, the Sony Ericsson Jalou is going to gallop into your heart like a Rhinestone Cowboy.

OK, so you get it, it looks like a diamond. But will it hold its own as a phone? The specs sheet reads like a guide to building a standard mobile phone. It includes HSDPA web data, Bluetooth with A2DP and USB connectivity. It will make calls, send SMS messaging and will push new emails to your phone, and for budding mobile photographers the Jalou includes a 3.2-megapixel camera with video recording. Interestingly, the Jalou will support microSD memory expansion and not Sony's M2 memory format — proof, perhaps, that Sony has finally ditched its uncommon memory standard?

But the most exciting part of Sony Ericsson's announcement is that the Jalou will also be released sporting the Dolce & Gabbana brand and dripping in gold. The limited edition will come in a Sparkling Rose colour with a 24-carat plated chassis plus D&G designer tote bags and a matching Bluetooth headset. Like, oh my god. Sadly, the reports we hear are that the D&G Jalou will only launch in selected markets and that Asia may not be included, so cross those fingers girls and pray to Dolce or Gabbana or whoever is your fashion god that we see the bling-tastic Jalou down under. The standard Jalou should be in stores in time for Christmas.

The Good:........

The Bad:Ugly, Cumbersome, Technologically impaired

Honestly whoever made this design must have been high at the time, possibly the ugliest thing i've seen in a long time but to its credit it did make me laugh, also to boot its features don't even make up for the lack of taste
