Sony Ericsson W810i
By Jeremy Roche on 25 May 2006
An excellent phone with plenty of storage space for photos. The camera is above average for a mobile phone, as are the supplied headphones. While there is no need for W800i users to upgrade to this model, the W810i offers an impressive feature set for those considering the purchase.

I have had the w810i for 5months now. It is a spectacular phone. Everyone that has seen my phone compliments me. I will never change my mind for any other phone ever. Sony ericsson for life.
- Good: Excellent mp3 player, beautiful design and magnificent battery life. No regrets.
- Bad: No much wrong about the phone just that the camera aint as good as the k800i. But i bought it for the multimedia side.

i have been using this phone (and only one, no replacement) since it was released in Australia - more than a year ago? Nothing to complain about, except occasional unclear photos at low light at night, especially if i do use the zoom function. I love this phone so much that I bought many SE accessories over the time since buying the phone itself - cases, speakers, flash (really good), radio transmitter, etc. I took 700 photos during a trip to HK/Beijing for 10 days in Oct 2006 using this phone. I took no other camera for that trip. At a tourist's spot, a guy was so amazed with the photo quality on this phone camera, even that he had a good quality digital camera in his own hands!
- Good: All in one - just convenient. No need to carry three separate devices (phone, iPod/MP3 player and camera) anymore.
- Bad: As said, photo quality at low light. But the plug-in flash you could buy basically solves the problem - just need to make sure that you bring the flash if you know you have to take pictures in a dark place (e.g. before going out to a party in a nightclub.)

The phone is actually pretty good overall. There are some minor bugs which have been discussed already so I'll sum them up.
- Good: Walkman and video player are good, the menu is a little clumsy.
- Bad: Crashing. I've found that this model crashes with a 4GB memory stick installed with only 1.8GB free on it. It's crashed while replying to text messages and just turning on the phone. The only solution I've found is to remove the battery for 2 - 5 mins and try to boot it again. It looks like it's using a FAT16 file table instead of a FAT32 to store the files on the memory stick. If that's true, although it might show as FAT32, that would explain the crashes a lot more. I have found that the phone works great without the memory stick inserted.

This is the second Sony Ericsson W810i i have purchase. THe first it took just four days before it started to freeze where the keypads would just light up and the screen turn white or black. The seconds is presently two months old after replacing the first and demanding my money back i still took the chance at a more reliable outlet at my country and the phone freezes again .... This is a waste of people time and money for such a phone... STICK TO NOKIA
- Good: Everything before it goes through the freezing phase
- Bad: Freezes and can no longer be used

Have Had my phone for 2 months and it's the best. The battery Life is great, was able to play music for the whole afternoon and still use it the next day without charging it. The Camera is ok but wasn't expecting much from a camera phone. Anyone who is looking for a phone to occupy them on a long flight trip this is the one.
- Good: Excellent sound quality
- Bad: Sometimes the screen freezes up when i play alien scum
