Sony Ericsson Z550i
By Ella Morton on 21 November 2006
The Z550i is a chic but sensible lower-end phone that does the basics well and adds a sprinkling of extras. We'd rate it higher if not for a significant text-related performance problem.

They take a sony memory card, easy to find, just take the phone to Dick Smith or a type of store like it and they will give you one.

- Good: Looks good, isn't scratched easily, camera is good, txts are easy and fast.
- Bad: Speaker performance.
I had this phone for a year and it was good until the battery started turning off and on when it was fully charged out of nowhere. It worked perfectly till then.

Hi. I am thinking about buying this one, but I have some questions about it:
I've read that the speaker is low, listening to music - that doesn't really bother me - but, is it also a problem when you are talking on the phone?
And another Q: Does it feel chunky, like in your pocket, hand, purse n.so on? -

- Good: - Easy to use
- Bluetooth, you can send everything unlike some other phones
- Pretty good sound
- Themes are alright.. - Bad: - Chunky
- No USB cable
- Bad video quality and picture
- No light
- Battery life
- Can't lock anything except if you've put a lock on the start up screen.
- Not much memory, and if we wanted more we have to spend more money on just the memory card.
- Can't delete default tones or videos [the stupid plane :@]
- No TrackId
- Speaker Volume isnt loud
Ive had this phone for over a year.
It's alrite.. but theres plenty of other better phones. More cons then pros. - Good: - Easy to use

- Good: It has worked for probably 60 days out of the last 330 days, since purchase. That's the good part!
- Bad: My z550i has been to the service centre for 8-9 times for repair. It has had recurring problems with the battery (replaced), IMEI (replaced), charging, and water seepage (?). It loses 60-80% power within 5-6 hours of its charge, provided it can be charged!
Sony Ericsson is reluctant to replace the handset even within the warranty period, despite my several requests. I would avoid any Sony Ericsson product in future.
