Sony Handycam HDR-CX100
By Derek Fung on 18 February 2009
The new CX100 features less optical zoom (10x versus 12x) than the current CX12 model, but does get 8GB of built-in flash memory as standard, as well as optical image stabilisation, a blockier design and smile detection.

I did also try it on a big LCD panel and it still looked the same.

- Good: Small, light and good stabilisation
- Bad: Limited zoon, but hey its small
Many comments below mine seem mentions these things:
Bad colour
Expensive memory sticks
What you need realise is:
if the LCD screen shows off colour, ignore it. The screen is for preview purposes and the final video will not reflect this.
Expensive Memory sticks? Get a photofast adaptor, which allows you to stick two Micro SD cards in a Memory stick duo shell. I got 32gb worth of memory for under 60bucks. Also it is better if a camera has less internal memory because you are probably being charged a premium for it. -

- Good: Small size
- Bad: Terrible colour accuracy
I saw one in a store and my white shirt looked pink. The colours seemed inaccurate to me and the noise levels were noticable. The details overall weren't too bad but I'm not buying more expensive memory sticks and using the internal memory 8GB??? Other brands offer at least 32GB.Look elsewhere.

It feels like a toy camcorder. I think you are better off paying that little extra more and get a camcorder that offer more zoom, capacity and features.

- Good: small and compact
- Bad: not enough capacity and to only expand memory with expensive memory sticks.
I agree with Phong with the 8GB capacity. Memory sticks are expensive and the 8GB only allows for less than 1 hour. Why didn't they put at least 32GB?

I agree, 8GB capacity is a joke. They should at least provide 32GB like the other brands.

- Good: Good price, flash memory and light weight
- Bad: Very little capacity offered and expensive Memory sticks.
Not a bad camcorder. I liked the feel and weight of it. The image wasn't too bad. What I didn't like is the fact that there was only 10 x zoom and the limited 8 GB internal memory. I mean with 8 GB thats only 50 minutes recording. The you must top up with expensive memory sticks. If this camcorder had at least 32 GB internal memory then that will be a different story.
