All the leaks, speculation and rumours are finally over: the Nexus 5 is here.

The LG-made handset offers the first taste of Android KitKat, the 4.4 version of Google's operating system. It's also a "vanilla" experience — just the pure OS with none of the manufacturer-created user interface add-ons.

If you're buying from the Google Play store, the pricing is AU$399 for 16GB and AU$449 for 32GB, although the handsets won't be shipping for another three to four weeks.

We've done a spec rundown comparing the Nexus 5 to the Galaxy S4 and iPhone 5s, as well as its predecessor, the Nexus 4.

Specs say it can take microSD on Google play. Are you sure it doesn't have expandable memory ?

Just asking as I was just about to buy but that will be a deal breaker.

Forget that microUSB not SD.

Thanks cnet . So is it possible to say the words "the nex5 is BETTER than iphone"? hmmm I don't think apple hq would be happy if you did.

I always find it odd that when there is any kind of i / android spec comparison chart that RAM is always missing.

Is this because it would put the i devices in a bad light??????

Please update spec chart to reflect RAM for each and every device.

Surely LG G2 should get in there for a comparison

Does it really not have an IR blaster given all the new details for this in Kitkat 4.4??

Probably should mention that the s4 can wirelessly with an additional samsung case.

Also the nexus 5 camera can record in full HD and true HDR function

Google Nexus 5 looks like a nasty piece of phone there against Iphone 5s.
I was thinking to switch to an android system for staff at my work, though Itunes still seems to be the easiest for backup, as opposed to backup via Wifi and google account
