In brief

Just a few months after launching its first family sedan, Suzuki has added a new top-of-the-range model to the list that boasts a dash of extra equipment and a four-wheel drive system.

Despite its Sport badge, the new model comes equipped with the same 131kW/230Nm 2.4-litre petrol engine that powers other Kizashis. The part-time four-wheel drive system adds 70kg to the car's weight and the only transmission on offer is of the continuously variable variety.

Standard features include 18-inch alloy wheels, electric seats up front, automatic headlights, dual-zone climate control air-con, sunroof, six airbags and rain-sensing wipers. The Sport AWD's sound system boasts nine speakers, a subwoofer, a CD slot and USB port, and steering wheel audio controls.

The three grand premium over the CVT-equipped XLS nets the driver the aforementioned four-wheel drive system, leather seats with silver stitching, Bluetooth hands-free and a sports body kit including chrome accents, boot lip spoiler, and a different grille and bumper design.

Outlook

The Kizashi Sport AWD is on sale now for AU$39,990. This price includes GST, but excludes statutory and dealer charges.

Very impressive! Its about time that Suzuki released a car that is in the league of the big sellers. There should be no problem in competing within the market. Owned Suzuki's before and love it. The cars are very well built and are worth every cent. I hope this is the same! Well done Suzuki.

I drove the car through winding wet hilly roads today, 26 Aug 10, and loved it!!! The steering direct with good feel, the ride firm but not harsh, and it corners like it's on rails. The paddle shift gearchanges are instant and you must observe the tacho to prevent over revving, as the the engine response is power all the way up in each gear.Definately my next car!!
