Apple TV gets price cut

Apple has changed its Apple TV line-up overnight by removing the 40GB model from sale, which means that the TV and the iPod Classic now only come in 160GB capacities.

The company has obtained the licences to sell pre-cut ringtones and may roll them out in time for 9 September press event, music industry sources said.

Reviews

  • Sony PSP-3000

With its impressive game library, lower price and expanded feature set, it's certainly a much better deal than the original PSP — and it's even better than the PSP 2000. While its media and online functions won't necessarily replace a dedicated AV device or laptop, it will be good for most portable gaming and multimedia needs.

  • TiVo 160 Media Device

Despite missing some key features, the TiVo HD is a worthwhile investment if you don't want to pay for cable, and it poses no ongoing EPG fees.

  • HP TouchSmart IQ505a

The second generation TouchSmart as just a panel PC is gorgeous. The AU$1,999 price is fantastic as well — but we can't help but feel that there's so much more potential in the touchscreen aspect being left, ahem, untapped.

  • TomTom Go 720

Don't let its beautiful body tempt you, the TomTom Go 720 is both too pricey and too buggy. The cliche "beauty is only skin deep" is particularly apt here.

Despite some flaws, the Apple iPhone sets a new benchmark for an integrated phone and MP3 player.
