The do-it-all Archos 604 with its improved design is slightly marred by mediocre audio performance. It's an amazing PVP, but not a great audio player.

Let's get past the fact that it looks like the iPod. The Creative Zen Vision:M, drenched in features, is a refreshing breath of fresh air in the MP3 market.

    If we could choose only one PVP, it'd be the Archos AV500 Mobile DVR.

    Get the affordable, sleek, and sexy 5G Apple iPod for its audio virtues. Although video looks great, poor video battery life and a relatively small screen hamper its appeal to video heads.

  • Apple iPod (60GB, colour)

    Though it no longer comes with such extras as a dock or an A/V cable, the photo-enabled iPod (née iPod Photo) is, pound for pound, the best iPod available.
