Toshiba Satellite L500D

We like the Toshiba Satellite L500D, it's amazing value for its price. However, we think it's worth paying the extra AU$200 for the version with the less power hungry GPU.

Apple Mac Mini (2009)

Reviews

  • Dell Inspiron 13

The Dell Inspiron 13 is great for those hampered by a tight budget, but who still want a competent and power-efficient thin-and-light notebook with a decent design.

  • Lenovo IdeaPad U110

Lenovo's bright red foray into the ultraportable consumer space is for the most part a successful one, despite a few missteps.

  • Toshiba Satellite L300 (Celeron 2GHz, 1GB RAM)

  • Dell XPS One

Fantastic looks and good media capabilities, but Dell's XPS One is very pricey

  • Toshiba Satellite M200 (Core 2 Duo 1.5GHz, 1GB RAM)

Toshiba's M200 feels great, but doesn't stand out against an oncoming slew of budget competitors.

  • Acer Aspire 2920 (302G25Mn)

The Aspire 2920 should suit most people who are on a budget, like to stay portable, but still need a bit of grunt. If it had an HDMI port, it'd almost be the perfect solution
