The C390a follows in the footsteps of recent HP multifunction devices by delivering excellent quality prints in a stylish, fully featured unit. If it weren't for the initial and ongoing running costs, this would be the ideal solution for a home or small office MFD.

Brother MFC-6490CW

We have to commend Brother for breaking new ground with the world's first A3 inkjet multifunction. It's not at all perfect but, for those in the market for a large format printer, it may just meet your requirements.

  • HP Officejet Pro L7590

    While it may seem like an ideal office multifunction printer on specs alone, the L7590 has its fair share of problems. Variable print quality and its sheer size do a lot to offset the speed and versatility to be found within.

    The Dell V305w is an inexpensive all-in-one printer that also connects wirelessly to your home network. However, the output quality needs significant improvement, and the cost to maintain the printer is much higher than the industry standard.

    The Brother MFC-7440N prints quickly and is fairly inexpensive to sustain, but we simply can't get behind a printer with poor quality graphics, significant hardware defects, and a boring design.

  • Samsung i8

    Aimed at amateurs, the Samsung i8 is a user-friendly digital camera with strong multimedia functionality and helpful how-to guides. Slow performance and the sometimes frustrating logic of the main menu will mean this is probably one to skip unless you're interested in the bare basics.

  • HP Photosmart C6280 All-in-One

    The HP Photosmart C6280 lacks many of the features that make a photo all-in-one compelling, and its print quality disappoints. Your money is better spent on a different all-in-one.

  • Samsung ML-2571N

    The Samsung ML-2571N mono laser printer has the right combination of price and features for a home office user with basic printing needs.

  • Canon Pixma MX300

    If you work in a one-person office and are on a tight budget, the Pixma MX300 is a good fit; you won't find better quality output from comparably priced all-in-one inkjets. You'll need to keep shopping, however, if you need built-in networking or fast prints.

  • HP Photosmart C5280

    Its features set is oddly unbalanced, and better all-in-one inkjet options cost just a bit more, but the HP Photosmart C5280 is a good bet for casual home users on a tight budget.
