While it doesn't offer HDMI connectivity, the Xbox 360 HD DVD player matches up well against stand-alone HD DVD players, and it's a relative bargain at AU$249.95.
Apple iPod (updated fifth generation, 80GB)

The new "enhanced" iPod looks like a tremendous improvement over the last one, with a brighter screen and better battery life.
