Reviews

  • Olympus E-450

Olympus has announced yet another camera to contend for the title of the world's smallest dSLR. It's not much of an evolution from the E-420, but has a couple of extra features that have trickled down from its older siblings.

  • Canon PowerShot S90 IS

Nostalgia seems to be the "it" thing in 2009, as camera manufacturers push for designs that hark back to the golden age of photography. The PowerShot S90 IS is a definite contender for ye olde camera of the year.

  • Pentax K-m

We like the K-m and the image quality it offers, but having to fumble over the inconsistent metering and white balance can be an issue for users not familiar with manual exposure controls.

  • Olympus E-620

If you've been hankering after an Olympus E-30 but baulked at the price, don't despair ... just get the E-620 instead. It's a competent, capable digital SLR in the vein of its older sibling, but a lot smaller and cheaper.

  • Canon EOS 500D

The 500D is a very capable camera that is ideal for someone entering the world of digital SLRs. The inclusion of high-definition video adds even more appeal to the already good-looking package.

  • Olympus Mju Tough 6000

Though we tried to like the Tough 6000 thanks to its candybar styling, it's a fairly lacklustre camera in the performance stakes.

  • Olympus E-420

The Olympus E-420 is a good beginner's dSLR with an extremely compact footprint that should go well with travellers. Just don't expect any fancy features for this budget model.

  • Canon EOS-1Ds Mark III

The 1Ds Mark III marks another high-end success for Canon, though you'll need a lot of spare cash if you want to own this ground-breaking camera.
