Canon IXUS 200 IS

Pairing a pretty touchscreen interface with a competent camera is always a good move, but we're a bit stuck as to what the 200 IS actually is: a touchscreen or a conventional compact.

Nokia 6700

The Nokia 6700 Classic is not a fancy-pants smartphone, but its high quality, 5-megapixel camera and brilliant screen help make this phone a front-runner in the mid-range market.

  • Sony Walkman X-series (32GB) NWZ-X1060

After our preview, we're enchanted with the touchscreen Walkman, but fear that it will only appeal to a small minority of the MP3 player market, namely non-conformists and music aficionados with a burning touchscreen itch.

  • Asus P750

The Asus P750 may be chunky, but it packs in a huge array of features. Combined with an equally impressive software bundle, the result is an excellent multifunction handheld that should appeal to a wide range of mobile professionals.

  • Nokia N78

The Nokia N78 is a fun phone to use, and despite some annoyances it's likely to find fans in those looking for a feature-filled Apple alternative.

  • Samsung i8

Aimed at amateurs, the Samsung i8 is a user-friendly digital camera with strong multimedia functionality and helpful how-to guides. Slow performance and the sometimes frustrating logic of the main menu will mean this is probably one to skip unless you're interested in the bare basics.

  • HP Photosmart C8180

The C8180 multifunctional printer is an excellent choice for photo enthusiasts. It prints high-quality text and photos at a heavy price: the printer is slow. If you always choose quality over speed, the C8180 will be a worthwhile addition to your digital toolshed.

  • HP Photosmart D7460

The HP Photosmart D7460 offers compelling features -- including a touch screen -- for home users, but the competition offers better print quality.

  • Nokia 6110 Navigator

A good 3G slide phone with an excellent screen and sound quality. It feels a little cheap in places, though, and its GPS navigation is highly compromised.

  • Samsung E900

You'll need to retrain your thumb to operate the E900, which features touch-activated keys. The phone has some cool features, but you may find yourself accidentally hanging up on people or deleting half-composed texts.

  • Sony confirms touchscreen X-series Walkman

We won't be seeing a touchscreen MP3 player from Sony all that soon. You're going to have to wait until May to get your hands on the X-series Walkman, which was officially announced at CES 2009.

  • Top 10 reasons not to buy an iPhone

Since its release, the iPhone has had more than its share of press. Love it or hate it, everyone's been talking about it and looking at its sleek, colourful interface, it's hard not to fall in love with it. But like most decisions based on emotion, buying one may not be the smartest thing to do — at least, not yet.
