A basic, inexpensive DVD camcorder, the Canon DC100 is a safe, if unremarkable, choice.

If you're not fussed by HD, or recording to DVD or hard disk, then the MD160 is a perfectly serviceable, if otherwise unremarkable camcorder.

A simple DVD camcorder with decent performance and image quality, the DC220 won't blow you away but neither will it let you down.

There are better choices than the Sony Handycam DCR-DVD755, a so-so DVD camcorder.

Canon has some new DVD camcorders on the way this year. The DC50, DC210, DC220 and DC230 are slated to replace Canon's current line.

Canon prepares its latest conscripts for the camcorder wars but there's still no sign of any hard-disk or hybrid warriors.
