  • Nokia 6710 Navigator

Nokia's third Navigator in the series is the best of the bunch thus far, though its small screen will dissuade many from binning their TomToms for in-car use.

  • Samsung Ultra S (S7350)

The Ultra S is the best Samsung phone in this price range. Anyone looking for decent phone features and an excellent camera should check out the Ultra S, especially lovers of pink.

  • Nokia N97

The N97 features class-leading specs matched with outstanding design and build, but it loses marks for the Symbian platform that desperately needs an overhaul to stay competitive.

  • Lexus IS250 Sports Luxury (2009)

What the IS250 lacks in badge snobbery, it makes up for in good looks, rock-solid quality, neat handling and serenity enough to becalm a frazzled monk. While stuffed with tech, it isn't quite as up-to-date as we'd have liked.

  • Nokia E75

Nokia's E75 looks the part and mostly performs well too, but its single day battery life is a major let-down when compared to last year's E-Series offerings.

  • Samsung C5220

The C5220 is a passable prepaid from Telstra. Its low-specs are elevated somewhat by Next G compatibility, though there's little else to recommend it.

  • HTC Touch HD

The Touch HD is a fantastic phone, if you can afford one. It out-performs every HTC phone previously and looks fantastic doing it.

  • BMW to make voice commands more natural

Using speech recognition to enter destinations into a car's sat nav system is usually an exercise in tedium, but BMW will soon be launching a more natural system for destination entry, as well as music searches, on its iDrive-equipped models.

  • Hands-on with the TeaShark mobile browser

Maybe we're being unnecessarily critical, but TeaShark seems like a silly name for a hot drink, let alone a mobile Web browser. Although, to be fair, Google and Firefox aren't much better in the names department.

  • Smaller, more agile security software gets it right

I have an evolving theory that the best software today is coming from newer and more agile companies.
