Asus K50AB
The K50AB is a typical mid-range laptop that looks good, but the in-built GPU-switching feature doesn't save on battery at all. We'd suggest looking elsewhere for your mid-range needs.

Gigabyte Booktop M1022M
The Booktop may be on the costly side, thanks to the bundled docking station, but it still falls below "premium" netbook costs. Plus the excellent battery life and ability to switch from a desk-bound PC to a portable mini-laptop captured our attention.

Panasonic SC-BT207W
This is a well-featured system that will produce great looking Blu-ray and DVD images. Sound quality's generally pretty good, just don’t push it too far.

Asus RT-N13U Wireless N Router with All-In-One Printer Server
Asus' inexpensive 802.11n router is a bit of a bargain, although it does also bring with it some bargain basement sensibilities.

HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless
The HP Officejet Pro 8500 wireless makes a convincing inkjet argument for offices with a high volume of prints. With a function touchscreen, multiple networking options and an astoundingly fast print speed, it makes perfect sense to give this workhorse an Editors' Choice award.

HP Mini 5101
HP's biz-minded Mini 5101 is a successor to the Mini 2140 (one of our all-time favourite netbooks). It looks and feels great, but for a premium-price netbook, we expect to get more features, not fewer.

Toshiba Satellite U500
Toshiba's Satellite U500 wants to be portable and powerful, which has a negative impact on both the battery life and the weight. Still, if you need power in a petite package, the U500 might do it for you.

Panasonic Toughbook CF-W7
The Toughbook CF-W7 isn't bad. It's designed for a specialised niche, and if you're constantly exposed to water we'd say it'd be a good choice. We'd expect more for our money though, and would otherwise be more tempted to pick up a Thinkpad for general ruggedness.
