  • Sygic Mobile Maps for iPhone

    With its latest update, Mobile Maps has become our favourite iPhone nav app, but we still have reservations about using the iPhone as a GPS navigator.

  • TomTom for iPhone

    With the highest price, fewest features and the same ol' iPhone nav problems, TomTom's app is hard to recommend.

  • Nokia 6710 Navigator

    Nokia's third Navigator in the series is the best of the bunch thus far, though its small screen will dissuade many from binning their TomToms for in-car use.

    The iPhone 3GS is faster and we appreciate the new features and extended battery life, but call quality and 3G reception still need improvement.

  • TomTom Go 730

    Lane guidance is great and the over-hyped IQ Routes was pretty good, but the best news is that, one year on, the Go 720's faults (price, buggy features) are no more.

  • Apple iPhone 3G (16GB)

    While parts of the iPhone 3G are superb, there are still some big features missing from this device. If you add up the extras, the iPhone doesn't seem like a phone that everyone can afford.
