US Supreme Court rules against file swapping

The US Supreme Court has handed movie studios and record labels a sweeping victory against file swapping, ruling that peer-to-peer companies such as Grokster could be held responsible for the copyright piracy on their networks.

Does video have a Napster problem?

Despite a spate of file-swapping lawsuits, it's not all bad news for TV and movie producers. They have far better alternatives than the music industry did when it was doing battle with Napster, and the better-known video-sharing sites seem to have learned the hard lessons of their music predecessors.
