Microsoft has started beta testing software that will take its Web e-mail onto the desktop.
An overhaul of the long-neglected Web e-mail is the cornerstone of Microsoft's plan to win fans to its Windows Live services.
Although it has taken Microsoft five years to develop the next version of Windows, the software maker seems to crank out a new Windows Live service every five minutes.
