Reviews

  • Kogan Blu-ray player

Kogan's budget-line Blu-ray player has excellent playback, and is even region free. At the same time, it's a player we could only recommend as a stopgap solution for multi-region buyers.

  • Adobe Media Player 1.0

Adobe's Media Player is an excellent application that is beautifully designed and easy to use. Shame about the currently available content.

  • Samsung YP-T10

Samsung's super-cute player has several enchanting features — including a dancing dog — but its touch-sensitive controls can be temperamental.

  • Denon DVD-1940

The Denon DVD-1940 is a worthwhile successor to to the 1930, with great DVD pictures. If the upscaler was up to snuff it would be perfect.

  • Samsung BD-UP5000

The Samsung BD-UP5000 is only the second HD multi-player to be announced but includes full support for both HD DVD and Blu-ray.

  • Toshiba HD-E1

If you have a big-screen TV in your living and you're hungry for HD content, the Toshiba HD-E1 delivers great picture quality.

  • Samsung BD-P1000

Samsung's BD-P1000 is the first Blu-ray player to land in Australia. While it raises the bar for high-definition video with 1080p output, it also carries a lofty price tag.

  • Sony BWU-100A

Early adopters will see the BWU-100A as forging new ground, but most others will regard it as an unjustifiable expense, for now.

  • Panasonic makes your Blu-ray discs portable

While DVD players are virtually everywhere and portable DVD players are cheap, when you buy a Blu-ray disc you're typically limited to watching it in your home theatre. The Panasonic DMP-BD15 looks to address this; it is the first portable Blu-ray player and it's also designed to be used easily around the house with a built-in stand.

  • Panasonic rolls out Blu-ray and VHS players

Panasonic's new players, the DMP-BD60, DMP-BD80 and DMP-BD70V are mostly incremental updates to the existing Blu-ray players, except for the addition of VHS playback on one of the players.
