  Nokia N86 8MP

  There's a lot to like about the N86 8MP, but it's hard to fall in love with it too. While it's well made with good features, it looks and feels like a phone from several years ago.

  The T6 is the phone we never expected to see from Telstra. The price tag on the T6 is spot on for a phone with this feature set, and the Telstra Blue Tick should offer those in remote areas some peace of mind.

  Samsung C5220

  The C5220 is a passable prepaid from Telstra. Its low-specs are elevated somewhat by Next G compatibility, though there's little else to recommend it.

  The C510 rises high above its low price tag and our prepaid prejudices. The camera is decent and it's assisted by excellent shooting modes and settings.

  Telstra Turbo 21 modem

  Telstra's Turbo 21 delivered the fastest wireless broadband experience we've seen. This excellent performance will be enough to justify its high price for some.

  Nokia 7310 Supernova

  Nokia's 7310 Supernova is a pretty phone for pretty people, but this supernova is not a star (in the astronomical or important sense) nor has it exploded in greatness.

  It is yet another clamshell phone from yet another phone company. So what sets this mobile phone apart from the others? Not much.

  The Country Phone will feel at home in those remote areas that struggle with mobile coverage. It makes up for an absence of bells and whistles with great performance of its essential features.

  Telstra EasyTouch Discovery

  The EasyTouch Discovery is the perfect first phone for people who are not confident with mobile technology. Designed for ease of use, the Discovery has a few extra toys to play with once you've mastered the basics.

  LG KF390

  Take out the Next G reception and you end up with a low quality handset at a mid-range price point. Still, it's great to see another blue tick phone for our friends in the bush to consider.

  Porsche Design P'9521

  Maybe it's because we've never actually sat in a Porsche, but we're struggling to find the similarities between the P'9521 and Porsches of the past; except perhaps the exorbitant price tag. With no 3G or Wi-Fi there's very little to justify the expense.

  Telstra F852

  The F852 may not be the best Next G phone available, but it looks good and the price is right.

  Telstra 159

  Another ruggedised monster from Chinese manufacturer ZTE. The Next G handset is shock, dust and water resistant, features assisted GPS and is compatible with Telstra's Talk Now messaging system.

  Telstra F158

  Tradies interested in Telstra's "tradesman's" phone may have to toss away a hammer to make room for the F158 in their toolboxes.

  Sony Ericsson K770i

  The Sony Ericsson K770i combines good design, useful features and ease of use to produce a pleasing jack-of-all-trades phone at a reasonable price.

  Telstra F165

  Dubbed the "Country Phone" Telstra's F165 sure looks the part. A rugged, rubberised candy-bar form factor with an extendable external antenna masks powerful HSDPA connectivity.

  Telstra EasyTouch

  A cute, Next G capable clamshell that performs well, but without any remarkable features the EasyTouch fails to make a lasting impression.

  Nokia E90 Communicator

  Nokia's E90 smartphone is the latest in the Communicator series, featuring HSDPA support, inbuilt GPS and Wi-Fi.

  Motorola Hiptop Slide

  The Hiptop Slide is social networking heaven paired with average standard phone features. This is one for the kids.

  Samsung A811

  Samsung asks us to imagine the world's fastest phone when thinking about the A811. Whether this is the way it should be thought of is yet to be seen, but access to the Web via Telstra's Next G is definitely a step in the right direction. The A811 will be available with a 2-inch screen, a 3 megapixel camera with auto focus and video recording, and media playback for a standard range of audio files.
