Telstra has today announced that Android apps, as well as Play Store movies and magazines, can now be billed against a connected Telstra account.

The telco's customers can choose to add the cost of Play Store purchases to their next monthly bill (for post-paid users), rather than paying with a credit card. This applies to all sections of the Play Store, including movie rentals and magazine subscriptions.
A Telstra bill can be used for any purchase of up to AU$20, which is sufficient for the vast majority of app purchases, but will exclude the outright purchase of some video content. Post-paid customers will be able to spend up to AU$100 per month on Play Store content, while prepaid customers can spend up to AU$500, provided that they have enough credit on their accounts.
Telstra and Google are celebrating this new partnership with a selection of apps at half price, including World of Goo and the SwiftKey 3 keyboard replacement. Happily, you don't need to be a Telstra customer to enjoy these discounts; they seem to be available on all Aussie Android phones.
