Are cat videos art? More importantly, do you care? Last week, on 30 August, the highly prestigious Walker Art Center held an open-air film festival — consisting entirely of two hours' worth of internet cat videos.
The videos were culled from over 10,000 entries, down to 79, which were divided into 11 categories, including drama, comedy, animation, art house and musical.
At the end, the people's choice Golden Kitty award was granted to the best video, as voted via online ballot: Henri 2, Paw de Deux, a film noir that documents the inner existential angst of the deeply troubled Henri.
Fear not, though, o cat lovers: you can yet vote for the festival's Best in Show. All you have to do is tweet the number of your video, as listed here, along with the hash tag #catvidfest. The winner will be announced on 7 September.
The entire playlist of videos can be found on YouTube here.
We're a bit sad that Lorenzo didn't make the cut.
