The long wait begins: Audi's race-ready R8 GT3
By Antuan Goodwin on 28 August 2008
The moment Audi toyed with pilfering Lamborghini's parts bin to make its Porsche-baiting R8, it was inevitable that a racing version would be built.
Ready to race
As fast as Audi's R8 is, there will always be someone who wants to go faster. According to Audi, the company has been inundated with requests for a race-prepped version of its halo car. Audi will deliver in the form of an Audi Sport-developed racing sports car specifically developed for customer use, the GT3 version of the Audi R8; however, deliveries won't begin in Europe and the States until the northern autumn of 2009 — that's Q3 next year, folks!
