Yes, I've used Firefox extention before. But now I'm using Save Video plugin for Internet Explorer. It has no the list of supported sites, and working with new video sites as well.

Fast video indexer is a video capture software that can capture video frames automatically from a list of videos and create index web pages, index pictures or a list of images.

it's a bummer that Video Downloader only works with the listed sites. It will be awesome once you can use it for any streaming video off of any site.

Another way is to find the file in your browser cache that contains the flv data and then just copy it somewhere else and rename it as an *.flv file. I use Firefox as my browser and this method is simple, direct and works very well for me. If the broswer cahe is too full of crap, just clear it, reload the video and the file you want should stand out as it will be several megs in size (for a video of 1 or more minutes duration).

on linux my mplayer is able to play the .flv files. Some need to have the .flv ending, some work even without.
Instead of downloading I just grab the file out of the firefox Cache directory. Find it for example with (in one command line):
ls -tr --color=no ~/.mozilla/firefox/*/Cache/*|tail -n 20|xargs file|grep Video
