The sequel to the massively popular Tiny Wings is coming later this week, with a teaser trailer hinting at multiplayer.

The 99-cent game, in which you play a tiny bird learning to fly, certainly gave Angry Birds a run for its money, ousting the other avian-themed game from its top spot several times in the months following its release in February last year.

Its beautiful design and simple one-touch gameplay has made it one of the most popular apps for iOS.

Creator Andreas Illiger tweeted over the weekend that the sequel is finally coming, with a gorgeous handmade teaser video featuring a hand-crank music box — and hinting at the end that perhaps another bird is on the way.

Tiny Wings 2 is due on the app store Thursday, 12 July.

According to his website, Illiger has no plans to port at this point in time, but that may change in the future.

It's a pity, it's such a great game.

It can't be that good if it's only for apple fanboys!
