Most popular mobile phones of June

We are halfway through 2005 and O2's Xda II Mini still rules the roost as the most hit review on our site -- thanks in large part to CNET.com.au having one of the first reviews of the PDA-phone up on the Net.

Set to launch an onslaught of multimedia savvy handsets in the second half of 2005, Sony Ericsson has finished up with six phones in the top 10, including the recently launched 2-megapixel K750i and its Walkman phone, the W800i.

Samsung's sleek D500 and MP3-playing E720 placed fifth and tenth place, respectively. We're currently testing Samsung's E820T push-to-talk handset and the E730, so check back soon for the full review or sign up for our free On The Move newsletter for the latest announcements.

Announcements of new phones from Nokia and Motorola at CommunicAsia last month will no doubt reshuffle these charts as we head towards the end of 2005. Highlights include Motorola's SLVR L7 and PEBL V6 fashion phones, and a 3G version of the RAZR V3 called the V1150. Nokia showed us a range of slider phones, three of which feature a 2-megapixel camera: the CDMA-based 6265, the GSM 6270 and the 3G-enabled Nokia 6280.

1.

O2 Xda II Mini

If you want a smart phone but want to avoid unsightly pocket bulges, you could do well to consider O2's slimmed down XDA II mini.

Reader Opinion
Works fine and serves purpose. Not cozy as a regular cell phone but handy as a PDA phone.

2.

Sony Ericsson K750i

With a 2-megapixel camera, MP3 playback, FM radio, video recording, Bluetooth, 32MB of internal memory and a 64MB Memory Stick thrown in, Sony Ericsson's K750i might be the hottest phone of 2005. We'll have to wait until Q2 to see it, though.

Reader Opinion
I just got the 750i and it is totally awesome, a killer phone. It is light and tiny but packs a whopping lot of features, best of which is the 2Meg camera. Sweet.

3.

Sony Ericsson Z800i

Sony Ericsson's Z800i takes 3G clamshells to the next level with a 1.3 megapixel rotating camera, Bluetooth, MP3 playback and a Memory Stick Duo slot for up to 1GB of storage.

Reader Opinion
Overall very good phone. Good camera for snapshot or general use. Weight is fine but phone is a bit too big. Data transfer time is quick enough. Good phone overall if you don't mind the chunky size.

4.

Motorola V3 Razr

The graceful Motorola V3 is the thinnest clamshell to date and a stunningly crafted mobile for style-conscious individuals and professionals alike.

Reader Opinion
Awesome phone, so thin and light. I cant remember the last time I felt so good about my mobile!

5.

Samsung D500

Samsung's latest slider phone, the D500, looks a lot like its sliding predecessor, but comes in a black case with a megapixel camera and an MP3 player.

Reader Opinion
My criteria for a new mobile was that it needed to be sleek, comfortable in the hand, large screen with good colour, and different from the mainstream models. The D500 provides this, and so much more.
